About the exhibit

The first Lithuanian stamp forgeries appeared soon after the first stamps were issued. Falsifying stamps is usually done for the purpose of defrauding the authorities or philatelists. The latter is incomparably more harmful. The exhibit shows numerous examples of Lithuanian stamp and postmark forgeries from the period 1918–1940.
